Have you noticed your mouth ponging a bit, even after brushing and using mouth wash?
Well, there may be several reasons for your bad breath. Let’s have a look at a few of them now.
What causes bad breath?
If you suffer from bad breath, then there is usually an underlying reason. There are lots of things that could cause bad breath, from smoking, to needing a scale and polish. But don’t fret. It’s usually a pretty easy problem to sort out once you’ve got to the bottom of it.
Partial to a spicy curry?
So the first thing to look at is your diet. Diets high in spicy food, strong smelling food (such as garlic) or drinks could be the first problem.
Have you had a scale recently?
You could also have an issue with your teeth or gums. If you haven’t been to a dentist in a while, you may have holes in your teeth, gum disease, or an infection. It’s best to book an appointment as your problem may be as simple as needing a good clean!
Feeling under the weather?
Certain medical problems may also cause bad breath, such as tonsillitis or acid reflux.
Fancy a cigarette?
And the biggest one? Smoking. The smell of a freshly smoked cigarette can linger in the lungs for hours, hence the stale scent associated with smoker’s breath. However, that’s just the beginning. The chemicals in tobacco smoke can remain in the mouth, leading to a host of secondary causes of bad breath.
